Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Pygmaea'
False Cypress
| Resembling Cypress, their flattened sprays of aromatic foliage on feathery branches create a pyramidal shape. Evergreen foliage ranges from dark green to yellow, some with white markings on the undersides. Most grow to 50 feet tall, though dwarf varieties are available for foundation plantings and hedges. Mature cones are brown to yellow-brown. The ridged, reddish-brown bark peels off. Protect from strong winds. Prune dead central branches if needed. Free from pests and disease. |

Usually a small, globe-shaped dwarf, it can reach 6 feet tall after many years.
