Tower of Jewels, Echium bourgaeanum

Short-lived but interesting plant that grows as a round mass of soft, silvery leaves in its first year, then sprouts spires of rose to red flowers up to 10 feet tall. Plant dies after fruiting, leaving lots of seeds.
