Trouble-free and fast-growing when young, these rugged, evergreen and deciduous shrubs thrive in heat, aridity, wind and poor soils. Waxy olive-green to gray leaves form dense shrubs that make an excellent screen or hedge. An excellent coastal windbreak. Types with variegated foliage are available.
