|A long-time favorite, these miniature floral bouquets in a rainbow of colors are signs of spring. Excellent for bedding, edging and containers, they are especially effective with spring blooming bulbs. Many long-blooming, large-flowered varieties are available which provide instant color in late winter through spring. Most are short-lived perennials, replanted with summer-blooming annuals. Attract butterflies. Easy to grow in partial shade, and moist, humus-rich soil. Dislike winter dampness and summer heat. Start by seed or division. Watch for red spider mites.
Flowers may be single or double. Soft hairs cover the pale green leaves.
